Reserve Your Spot
What if you gave yourself permission to play again?
To nap without guilt, chase sunsets like they owed you something?
Build worlds out of imagination instead of deadlines?
The Great Escape is not a "retreat" in the traditional sense. It's a living playground in the heart of Kenya, designed for women who are ready to recharge, reconnect, and rediscover joy. Over 5 unforgettable days, you'll hike, laugh, dress up, dream up, and step into rituals that remind you: play is not childish, it's essential.
And the best part? Every laugh, every story, every step you take here echoes further than you know, fueling a rescue home, students, and community programs that thrive because you showed up.
This is your invitation to come back more alive.
This retreat is brought to you by…
The Human Playground
In a world racing towards automation, The Human Playground helps people, communities and organizations preserve the one thing machines can't replicate. Our Humanity.
Whether its in Camps for adults, community creative ignition events or corporate learning interventions, we grow through play, joy and a foundation of neuroscience.
Nisria Foundation
What began in 2016 with a mission to establish playgrounds and distribute toys has evolved into an Kenya based NGO addressing education, wellness, shelter, play, and career development.
Maisha Label
A fashion workshop that is one of the lifelines of the social impact ecosystem where we place and train young adults and vulnerable women and proceeds of the workshop goes back into the safe houses.
What started as an up cycling initiative is now on Nairobi Fashion Week’s runways and Vogue features.
Why This Retreat?
This is a playground for grown women. A few unforgettable days to shake off the serious, flirt with life again, and remember the version of yourself that danced barefoot before the world told you to sit still.
🔑 Retreat Highlights
Play Like You Mean It
Forget worksheets and lectures. You'll hike, nap (yes, scheduled nap time), chase sunsets, dress up, and tackle quests designed to wake up your imagination.
The Imaginarium
Step inside a living art project with the Nisria Foundation: from upcycled fashion to world-building games, and a catwalk gala dinner under the stars.
Sunset Rituals & Campfire Magic
Every night ends with something different: ghost stories, personalized bedtime tales, or rituals that send you to sleep grinning.
Connection with Purpose
Visit a school and meet the children supported by Nisria, and spend a day creating at the Maisha fashion workshop that is an integral part of the social impact ecosystem.
Ancient & Whimsical
A trip in nature, wildlife and hisotry, stay on the banks of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, immersive play, a cacao ceremony, because who says rituals can't mix science, history, and play?
Optional Maasai Mara Extension
If you just can't leave yet: safari game drives, Maasai village experiences, and the kind of sunrise that makes you swear you'll never look at a screen again.
👉 From the forest dinner in Nairobi to the final bus-stop hangout in Gilgil, every moment is designed to remind you: play is serious business, and joy is your birthright.
And for those of us who love to take photos and videos of every beautiful experience, we have a treat planned for you!
Every moment of our retreat, we will have with us our photographer/videographer, he will capture the magic so you can live in the moment!

Day 6: Safari & Return to Nairobi
Immerse yourself in the magic of the wild before returning to Nairobi.
  • Sunset safari game drive.
  • Local village activities.

  • Departures from Nairobi.

Important Note: This retreat is designed for adults who are ready to play. It's whimsical, a little experimental, and built on community connection. Some details (like specific meals in Maasai Mara or workshop lunch locations) may shift, we'll keep the spirit intact, and the surprises are half the fun.

At The Great Escape, your guides aren't just facilitators. They are comedians, dreamers, strategists, and play activists who believe that joy is serious business. From bedtime storytellers to our honorary "8-year-old head coach," you'll be led by a team that knows how to mix wisdom with wonder.
